Settlement Workers in Schools (SWIS)

The Settlement Workers in Schools Program is funded through the BC government.  They are located within in school districts.  Their purpose is to help immigrant and refugee children adjust to school culture. The workers also increase parent involvement in their children’s education, while helping to build awareness of community and government resources. As well, a valued component of the program focuses on increasing cultural awareness and sensitivity in schools.

West Vancouver School District

West Vancouver School District works closely with the District of West Vancouver to provide a variety of programs and services to children and families outside of regular school hours. Through their Family Literacy Program, they support several programs for young children and their families, such as the StrongStart at Hollyburn and Eagle Harbour Schools.
